Tweenbots

On Tumblr, someone posted about Tweenbots. “Tweenbots are human-dependent robots that navigate the city with the help of pedestrians they encounter. Rolling at a constant speed, in a straight line, Tweenbots have a destination displayed on a flag, and rely on people they meet to read this flag and to aim them in the right direction to reach their goal.”

I think the idea for the bots was absolutely brilliant. Plus, the fact that: “Over the course of the following months, throughout numerous missions, the Tweenbots were successful in rolling from their start point to their far-away destination assisted only by strangers” is amazing as well. It’s kind of strange to think about, given how long their paths are:

This path took only 42 minutes, with assistance from 29 different people.

For some reason, this whole project just inspires me. I mean, those tiny robots going that far? I’d probably look at the flag if I saw it come past me, but I didn’t know other people were the same way. Maybe I’m just conceited.
