Vampires

Last night, I watched The Lost Boys with my brother and sister. I definitely recommend watching it if you like vampire movies. Anyways, if you didn’t already know, I absolutely hate Twilight with the passion of a thousand burning suns. The books, the movie, the author, everything… So I’d just like to point out that The Lost Boys is way better than Twilight for several reasons:

  1. The Lost Boys has real vampires.
While it’s true that some authors have been able to change a few of the rules of vampire lore successfully, Stephenie Meyer fails at this. Smeyerpires cannot be considered vampires at all, because the only thing they have in common with true vampires is the whole blood drinking thing. Basically they’re blood drinking sparkly super heroes, and that’s lame. The Lost Boys‘ vampires, however, are just as scary as vampires ought to be

  2. The romance isn’t vomit-inducing.
While Edward and Bella constantly feed each other cheesy and pathetic lines, Michael and Star hardly do any of that. While I admit that Michael is kind of a creepster in the beginning of the movie, nobody comes near to Edward’s creeper status of watching girls while they unknowingly sleep. In fact, in The Lost Boys the romance isn’t the main point of the movie.
  3. The action is, well, action.
The fight scene between David and Michael was way more intense than the one between Edward and James. Plus, the staking and holy water-filled water pistols? Just freaking awesome.
  4. It’s funny.
Where Twilight just tries to be funny, The Lost Boys actually succeeds. I laughed more when I first watched Twilight, but mostly at how ridiculous it was. Anyways, Twilight doesn’t have the hilarious Edgar and Alan Frog duo or hilarious 80′s montages.
  5. The actors are obviously better.
Just look at the cast lists on imdb! A young Kiefer Sutherland and Alex Winter alongside an even younger Corey Feldman? Definitely gets more brownie points than Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.

There are probably more reasons, but I think these sufficiently prove my point. I mean, come on, Twilight was more like The Room in terms of quality, even though The Lost Boys was made in the 80′s and is therefore filled with random montages. Just… seriously. I hate Twilight.
